The Master of Arts in International Relations with a concentration on Regional Studies Program aims at combining a solid foundation in the discipline of International Relations with an area of concentration on South-Eastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. The curriculum is designed to reflect these two principle objectives of the Program, by enhancing the students? general knowledge of theory and practice of International Relations and by enabling them to specialize in the politics of the region. The Program offers courses in the theory of International Relations, international law, foreign policy analysis and regional studies, from a comparative, interdisciplinary and critical perspective.

The Program is specifically designed to correspond to the needs of students wishing to expand their knowledge of such areas as Turkey?s neighborhood, the Balkans, Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East. It aims at providing a sound grounding in the discipline of International Relations with a focused specialization on the region, preparing individuals for careers in academia as well as professional fields.

As society and politics in the region enter a new phase, it is expected that a new paradigm will emerge, as will the need for well-trained experts. The Program contributes to the creation of a pool of specialized experts in the field. The curriculum is intended to offer an advanced, specialized academic and practical perspective for individuals who will become trained experts, knowledgeable in regional issues and realities.
